1944 Comes to a Close

On December 5, 1944, Harris wrote home to Margaret answering a question she had posed to him in an earlier letter, “…the rest of my gang is here with me, including the one addition.  They are all working well and I am quite satisfied with them.”

New Years Eve 1944

At the end of December, the Harris crew completed a week of Lancaster finishing school.  On December 31st, the crew would spend the last night of 1944 in the air, on a three-hour night training flight.

The start of 1945 would not only mark a new year, but would bring a move to yet another base.  It would also bring the start of active service for the Harris Crew.
