January 15, 1945 - Link Trainers

From the Operations Record Book:  

The Squadron stood down from operations and carried out a flying training programme consisting of fighter affiliation and "Y" cross country exercises.  Lectures, discussions, link training were also carried out.

The "Y" cross country exercises mentioned in the above Operations Record Book refers to navigational exercises using ground mapping radar, located in a dome on the belly of the aircraft.

Link training refers to a flight simulator produced by Link Aviation Devices, Inc, founded and headed by Edwin Link.
