After the Harris Crew's perilous raid on Pforzheim, rear air gunner Douglas Hicks noted the unholy screaming sound of one of the RAF's new jet planes at Manston Airport. Hicks is referring the Gloster Meteor, Britain’s first jet fighter and the only Allied jet aircraft to be operational during WW2.
