No work aside from their own housekeeping chores was required of the POWs.  Due to the transient nature of the camp, prisoners were entitled to send one letter or postcard informing their next-of-kin of their status and whereabouts, but received no incoming mail.

The YMCA supplied the camp with a library of some 1,500 books, board games, playing cards and outdoor sporting equipment.  Captain Daniel McGowan, a Catholic priest, conducted Catholic and Protestant services in the camp each Sunday, though it is unclear if these services continued through March 1945.
